I loved the complexities of how Cander detailed a mother （Mayree） and daughter （Paula） dynamic， having both experienced trauma and trying to cope with the invisible scars and burdens being carried - individually and across generations。 Set in the late 80s， this book gives little glimpses into how the world is changing for women， slowly but surely， and the battles so many mothers and daughters still experience as generational norms change - leaving some stuck in their ways and others adventurous， I loved the complexities of how Cander detailed a mother （Mayree） and daughter （Paula） dynamic， having both experienced trauma and trying to cope with the invisible scars and burdens being carried - individually and across generations。 Set in the late 80s， this book gives little glimpses into how the world is changing for women， slowly but surely， and the battles so many mothers and daughters still experience as generational norms change - leaving some stuck in their ways and others adventurous， yet naive of the world around them。 From experiencing the loss of innocence， the loss of love， feelings of betrayal， and abandonment - the reader is pulled through the trenches as both characters battle with their internal tormentors to try and survive the chaos and secrets left behind by Frank， the recently deceased patriarch。 。。。more
